Hi I am Kate. I am so thankful to be here today to ask you to walk with me for Melanoma Research prevention. I was very privileged that my son Clayton and his girlfriend Kaci organized team K.T. in 2009. We received the best team spirit award in honor of John Dougherty who passed away in 2008. I would like to walk not only for my own accomplishment of surviving but for those we have lost and for those still fighting. Thanks to scientific research I have battled the disease and with great fortitude have achieved “complete resolution.” I have been receiving the study drug Zelboraf for 18 months at UCLA. I was one of the lucky few whose mutation form was b-raf v600. My thanks goes out to Angel Flight West and Earth Angels for my transportation to UCLA, and to doctors and nurses who give their medical expertise and work hard to support us. I am still here because of the love and support of family, friends and church members who never wavered in my behalf. Let’s walk for a celebration! K.T.
