Heather’s Hope

HH pic Our Team Fundraising Goal is $500.00!

Thanks for visiting my team page! In case you did not know I am the Program Development Coordinator at the Skin Cancer Institute at the Arizona Cancer Center here in Tucson. I have worked in skin cancer research and now development for more than 4 years and I have seen the devastation that melanoma can cause on the body, to a family, and in a community. When I began working in the clinic doing subject recruitment, I thought that skin cancer was something folks like my Dad got and it was simply cut out. I had a huge wake up call when four patients I worked closely with, all under the age of 40, lost their lives to metastatic melanoma. Did you know that someone dies every hour from melanoma? Over the past 30 years the number of new cases of melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, has more than doubled. Please help me fight melanoma today and support Melanoma Walk 2011. Proceeds from the walk support melanoma research, patient care, community outreach and education. Thank you!
